CLOSED REDUCTION OF NASAL BONE FRACTURE USING K-WIRE SUPPORT

Abstract
Fracture of nasal bone is a very common injury and therefore frequently encountered, but instances of mismanagement due to inadequate fracture reduction or no reduction at all is not an uncommon occurrence.
Closed reduction of nasal bone fracture is possible in the majority of cases. But fracture of the nasal tip and comminuted fractures results in 2 or more bone fragments are difficult to correct with the method of closed reduction. In addition, discomfort caused by intranasal packing for 3 - 5 days and unpredictable results must be associated with closed reduction.
In order to alleviate these procedure, closed nasal bone reduction and subsequent K-wire support were performed in 6 patients.
This procedure has the following advantages ;
1) simple technique
2) less postoperative discomfort
3) especially effective in nasal tip fracture, as well as
4) lateral segment fracture
